Christmas Cone Ornaments
For this project you will make cone-shaped Christmas ornaments from paper, similar to the ones shown at right.
This project is rated: EASY
Materials needed:
- Computer paper or card stock
- Craft knife or scissors
- Glue
- Crayons, colored pencils, or paint
Project Instructions
- Print any of the plain patterns at right and below on paper or cardstock, OR print any of the pre-colored patterns if you have a color printer.
- Color or paint the plain patterns to suit yourself.
- In either case, cut out the cone along the outer black edges.
- Roll the cone into an approximate cone shape. It is easier to glue if some shaping is done first.
- Apply glue to the glue tab. The right edge of the ornament has a dashed line parallel to the right edge. The area between the dashed line and the right edge of the ornament is called the glue tab.
- Complete the cone by bringing the glue tab under the left edge and press the two edges together with the left edge along the dashed line. You may need to hold the edges together until the glue dries. Alternatively, you may fasten the sides of the ornament together using transparent tape.
When the ornament is done, you may use it any way that you want. For example, you can just set the ornament(s) on a shelf, under the tree, on a mantle, etc. If you would like to hang them on your Christmas tree, pierce the top point of the star with a needle and pull a loop of thread through the hole that you have made. Tie the ends of the thread together and you can use the thread to hang the ornament from a limb. Sometimes it is difficult to put the loop of thread around a branch. If that is the case, use a small loop and then hang the ornament using a regular ornament hook.
