BOB LAFARA at the IBM 650
The above shows me at the IBM 650 in 1955. The machine extended back from the
console about 6 feet and was about 6 feet tall. It contained almost 2000 vacuum tubes.
The heat generated by all these tubes was exhausted into a hood that pumped the hot
air to the outside.
Its only input/output capability was a separate box containing a card reader and card punch.
